MINUTES – PARISH COUNCIL MEETING – 25th JANUARY 2021

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: The Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on the 11th January 2021 were agreed and signed as a true record.
DECLARATION OF INTERESTS: The Chairman reminded Councillors of the need to declare interests as necessary.
OPEN SESSION FOR THE PUBLIC: Nothing was raised at this point.
ALL OTHER MATTERS TO BE HELD OVER UNTIL THE NEXT PARISH COUNCIL MEETING TO BE HELD ON MONDAY 8th FEBRUARY 2021:
SETTING THE 2021/22 PRECEPT: The Chairman & Clerk had produced a draft budget which had been circulated to Councillors prior to the meeting. Discussion ensued and agreement reached including adding in an extra amount for taking responsibility for the cutting of verges and visibility splays from the County Council. It was also agreed that there should be a single sum budgeted for donations which would not specify particular recipients. Additional sums were added including an amount for Christmas lights, the Neighbourhood Plan and Trees for a Community Orchard on the Diggers Field. The Chairman commented that given the financial difficulties which many people were facing because of the Coronavirus pandemic she did not feel that the Council should be increasing its precept for the coming year. It was proposed by Mr Morgan and seconded by Mr D Broad keep around £6,000 in balances and set the precept at £18,000, the same as last year, this was lost, 3 votes in favour and 4 votes against. It was then proposed from the Chair and seconded by Mr G Broad to take £3,500 from balances and set the 2021/22 precept at £16,426, agreed unanimously.
Mrs Amory thanked the Chairman and Clerk for their work in producing the budget.
