New Housing plan for Fields Road site

At our February meeting, landowner Tim Hamilton explained his latest proposal for housing on the site adjacent to the parish council land on Fields Road. The new plan includes  12 houses which he described as starter homes. He said he had been talking to a housing association about creating a development of shared equity houses which could be partly purchased and partly rented. The plan also shows two plots for self-build.

The open market housing shown on the previous scheme has now been removed and Mr Hamilton has said that he would be prepared to enter into an agreement with the parish council which could prevent building on the site for the foreseeable future.

Mr Hamilton explained that he would only press ahead with the plan if he had the support of the village and the parish council has agreed to arrange a meeting, probably later this month, when the proposals can be fully explained.

Emergency phone line up and running

The new phone number, designed to bring you help if you are on your own and need the defibrillator, is now active.

We are told that one third of all 999 calls are from lone rescuers so this number provides a way of getting them help from an extra pair of hands while waiting for an ambulance.

Make a note by your phone of the number to call which is:- 01285 610230

The outdoor gym is in place so now it’s over to you

Hopefully by the time you receive your Hill and Valley the new fitness equipment will be in place on the playing field and the weather will have improved so that lots of you are using it.

We hope that the equipment will give everyone in the village another way of keeping fit and improving their health.

A big thank you to the county council for the grant which made the purchase of the equipment possible and to our county councillor, Paul Hodgkinson, who told us about the grant and helped us secure it.

We are also grateful to the tennis club for offering to keep the grass cut around the equipment.

Litter pick planned

The parish council is hoping to organise a litter pick on Saturday 16th April and will be looking for people to help out. If we get enough volunteers then it need not be too big a task for anyone so if you think you would be able to help keep an eye out for further details in the April Hill and Valley.

We are also trying to encourage dog owners tidy up the village by providing a dog waste bin near the village hall crossroads. The bin is being provided thanks to a grant from Cotswold District Council.

County says ‘No’ to footpath diversion

The application to divert the footpath which runs in front of the new Chedworth House in Lower Chedworth has been rejected.

The application to divert KCH47 was opposed by the parish council and a number of residents and the parish council has been informed that the application was refused because ‘legal tests for confirmation would not be met’.

ExBox defibrillator working again

The defibrillator at the old phone box in Lower Chedworth is now working again.

Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish meeting will take place on March 21st . The meeting is an opportunity to look back over the past year, get reports from the various village charities and for villagers to raise any issues.
